“Nova Scotian Arms” is a genuine solo project of Grant Evans, formed in 2009, United States. After releasing more than ten full-length official albums on record labels such as Digitalis, Dial Square Tapes, Ruralfaune Synth Series, Sonic Meditations, Grant proves his well balanced productivity. He is also a co-curator of “Hooker Vision” label which he runs with his wife Rachel Evans (known as Motion Sickness Of Time Travel). Also Grant participates in the “Quiet Evenings” band.
“Cult Spectrum” is an LP album, released by Digitalis Recordings. Initial copies come on limited edition caramel-colored vinyl. The album consists of 5 elastic and ethereal compositions, scrupulously mastered by the experienced audio engineer Lawrence English. “Cult Spectrum” is associated with ambient, drone, abstract musical styles and still has a lot of authenticity in macro sound processing and dissonance shaped stereo sounding. Organic wholeness is combined by the perfectly merged polished tape loops, electric guitar fragments and electronic sound modulations. Intense nebulous musical atmospheres cover the chaotic background where attentive listener can hear thrilling melodic drone simulation. Suddenly appearing noise interference in compositions stimulates the celestial feeling. By calmly and thoughtfully manipulating the modulated synth effects and balancing the volume, Grant shows his genius knowledge of music generation and production.
“Cult Spectrum” is like a Robert Delaunay’s “Simultaneous Contrasts Sun and Moon” notable kaleidoscopic painting – the symbol of the possibility for harmony in the chaos of the modern world.
