Supynes festival - refined electronica in magic surroundings.

The summer flows and nostalgia visits everyone (in Europe), who is waiting for the first significant open-air festivals with all their different microclimates and ideologies. Each person, who adores nature's asylum, campfire atmosphere and proper music echoing in the distance knows, that vitality, friendly community and thrilling performances create a real magic, a balance of mind and body. No matter which music style you enjoy mostly, the most important things in festivals are your desire to be free and happy, to meet good old friends and get the maximum from all the exclusive entertainment that surrounds you. The successful festival leaves you with emerging memories, strong feelings and the musical experience gained from tons of fresh and diverse sounds. We would like to present you a very exclusive festival that found its shelter in the deepest forest surrounded by the abyssal crystal lakes.

This year Secret Thirteen Journal has become a media partner of "Supynes", one of the most magnetic festivals in Eastern Europe counting its 8 years of existence and organized by minimal.lt team. Starting on the 21st of June the festival will take 4 days and 3 nights and will end on the 24th. Passionately developed and constantly expanding in terms of musical diversity, sound system quality, organization and security, "Supynes" became a synonym of what we could call a 'well-balanced rave'. Having started as the intimate and close mini-festival, "Supynes" has grown to a 4 professionally equipped and maintained stages that are located in a dreamlike landscape. We could reveal, that there will be a secret stage too, which will be opened in the morning for the last standing ravers and early wanderers. Every inquisitive listener will definitely find his own favourites in more than 35 international and local artists live performances and over 60 DJ-sets.

All the stages will be different, but united by the high-quality electronic music. The main minimal techno stage called MORE will coexist with bass, leftfield, beats music in other stages and, of course, with more eclectic and experimental stage called 'LESS' to which we are focusing the most as it is closest to the concept of Secret Thirteen journal. 'LESS' stage will be located on the rampart shrouded with an old coniferous trees that tranquilizes and covers from the rain or works as a maze for all camping "cosmonauts". The combination of picturesque horizon and music will be simply astonishing as the festival takes place is in the well maintained nature reserve. This special stage is a distant oasis for all alternative music listeners who wants to escape from urban madness and sweaty walls of underground clubs. Festival's motto is "Less is more!".

This year's lineup is really diverse and promising. The public will be able to hear the legendary William Bennett as Cut Hands. His performances, full of industrial and African flavored samples captivate the innermost senses and subconsciousness. The program also includes a very honorable experimentalist and Hospital Productions label owner Dominick Fernow. He will perform as Vatican Shadow and will present the perfectly crafted rhythms drowned in the cinematic ambiance.

For those who prefer dancing, the festival brings a very skilled and respectable artists too. For example, Levon Vincent, a Brooklyn based producer and DJ, related to such respectable dance music labels as Ostgut Ton, Underground Quality and his own imprint Novel Sound. Another great name is Conforce, bringing a deep and floating techno from Holland. Judging by his successful releases on Delsin and mixes for Smoke Machine and FACT, there is no doubt that he will strike with all his musical intelligence. And what about Amir Alexander, a charming DJ and producer from USA, who founded a great deep-house label Vanguard Sound! and has been participating in various events from Detroit to Paris since 90's. His light and moving DJ-set at Boiler Room clearly shows what type of mood he will spread during the day. This is only a few examples of what awaits you from international artists in "Supynes".

Another important reason to visit "Supynes" festival is Lithuanian alternative music scene's widely undiscovered talents that always impress and surprise even the most sophisticated listeners and festival guests. Foreigners probably doesn't know many acts from Lithuania, but it doesn't mean that there are none. Lithuania was always rich with artists focusing on drone, IDM, ambient, noise and other unique electronic music formations. So, we will be able to hear Flesh Flash, a duo that merges vibrating guitar chords with delicately programmed electronica, thus creating a powerful performance that everytime attracts a lot of listeners. Also, there will be a mesmerizing performance by the interdisciplinary project AVaspo, that combines contemporary poetry with hazy electronics. AVaspo has recently released their third album "The Ocean is Bleeding", that is worth checking! The other acts are Girnu Giesmes and Oorchach, two pioneers of dark ambient, tribal and industrial music. Their ritualistic live performances will be part of intensively dark Sunday night at 'LESS' stage, curated by Agharta, the most prominent alternative events organizer in Lithuania.

Secret Thirteen authors Justinas Mikulskis (S13) and Paulius Ilius will also be playing and representing the journal at "Sūpynės" festival. Both of them are preparing two diverse Dj-sets ranging from power electronics, experimental to more atmospheric ambient, IDM, shoegaze sounds. It is important to mention a very promising IDM related artist Luke Marvel, which should surprise with his smoothly modulated and polished beats and shadowy ambiance textures in his semi-live performance. Sraunus is another live artist and probably the most awaited day-time performer, who everytime hypnotizes with his mellow deep techno rhythms enriched with a wide palette of sonorous sounds. Those who look for some fresh minimal bass and groove should pay their attention to another artist called Intakz, a head of Eternia label. He is gonna heat the atmosphere to the max in the stage called 'LOW'. Promise! Another prominent talent playing is IDM/drill experimentalist IJO, who will present an exclusive old school set. To tell the truth, it is a really hard task to mention only a few artists as all of them deserve a proper and in depth coverage. 4 meditative days and 3 magnificent nights with the freshest sounds should leave no one apathetic or ignorant.

Considering the balance of ticket price (~20 pounds) and the quality, you get a great offer here. If you are a visitor from a foreign country, you can easily reach the festival with direct train, which goes quite close to Vilnius airport, or you can travel by car as there will be a secure parking lot. Secret Thirteen highly recommends to mark 21-24 of June in your calendar, tell your close friends about this and come as Lithuania has the most beautiful nature, great musical talents and the most hospitable people. If you are really interested in exploring Lithuanian alternative scene as well as hearing some international artists' special performances and meeting congenial friends, "Supynes" festival is just the right place to do this.
