Secret Thirteen Guide 009 - Graphplan

The fourth winner of “The Guide 2” competition is Krisztian Vasas also known as Graphplan, a Serbian musician, sound artist and an avid music collector which lives and studies in Subotica. He grew up listening to black metal bands like Mayhem, Darkthrone, etc. This rebellious era had a huge impact on him as a teenager and now because the harsh music is his source of inspiration. Later he discovered contemporary electronic music and gradually immersed into more complex, diverse sounds generated by ‘machines’. Vasas began to study their constructions and wanted to figure out their whole structure. After these researches he began to use various softwares for music production. Two years ago after a long educational period he started his musical activity under the current guise. Since then Vasas contributed few mixes to different music magazines and blogs.

300AD (a Norwegian label) released his production on a cassette alongside with other great artist, which was represented at the exhibition "Fremtidskongressen #2: AUX" in Spriten Kunsthall (Norway) curated by Josefine Lyche and Henrik Pask. Recently he was invited by famous Belgian Fondation Sonore label to play in their #8 event in Brussels. As a young musician Vasas have many things to learn and to do, but now please enjoy his cinematic musical journey.

Graphplan has explored the 4th given topic “The Urban Utopia/Dystopia” – the interpretation of imagined utopian or dystopian urban space, the fictional city of your dreams/nightmares.

Graphplan’s words about his mix:

Everything has an end. Each and everything has it's own boundaries, hopes and dreams. They have been born, glorified and sooner or later they will disappear forever.

Growing up in a continuously collapsing country, in a city which had it's golden era and now it's just slowly fading away. Will those days ever come back? Is this the end? Dystopian images about the future, utopian dreams.

The whole concept was to show these fragments of emotions through music. What if these cities had emotions (joy, rage, sadness, etc.)? Human emotions. Can we read these moods? Are there some hidden signs, that they want to show us? I wanted to add dramatic, chaotic soundscapes which merge very well with cold, lifeless ambient. Noises and screams represent the human life, which once ruled the land, but now there is only tranquil silence. A very melancholic, uncomfortable, nerve-racking silence, which demonstrates the loss.

My description began with this sentence "Everything has an end". This is the end!
