Necessary storage
No account is required. Local browser storage remembers your Saved list and requested interface preferences, such as the archive’s index or cover view. Your list stays on your device unless you explicitly keep a private server copy. Clearing website data can remove the local list and preferences. The first-party cookie s13_consent_v1 and local key s13:privacy:v1 remember privacy choices for 180 days. The cookie is used only to apply those choices; it does not contain your reading history.
External players
SoundCloud, Mixcloud, Bandcamp, YouTube and Vimeo players are blocked until External media is accepted, or you deliberately allow a player through its control. No request is sent to that player before permission. Once loaded, providers receive technical request data and may use cookies or similar storage under their own policies. Withdrawing media permission unloads players and stops further loads; existing provider cookies can be removed through your browser. Their cookie duration depends on the service. Provider links are listed in Privacy.
Editors
WordPress sets strictly necessary login and security cookies for authorised editors. These are not used for advertising and are not part of the public reading experience.
Reading statistics
Journal action totals start only after Statistics consent. They add no persistent visitor identifier and do not upload your list. Optional browser counting needs a second choice in Saved → Keep a copy / Settings; this stores a random code locally and sends it only with saves. Switching it off removes that code and stops future browser counting. Server backups are a separate, explicit choice. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control stop statistics collection.
When enabled on the live site, Google Analytics 4 also waits for Statistics consent. Its _ga and _ga_* cookies distinguish browsers and sessions for measurement; our integration limits their lifetime to 180 days. Analytics remains disabled on the demo site. Advertising storage, Google signals and advertising personalisation are disabled.
Change your choices
Use the gear beside Privacy in the footer or the Privacy settings button on this page. “Necessary only” withdraws both optional choices. Closing the settings window, scrolling or continuing to read does not give consent. Choices are requested again after 180 days, when the policy version changes, or if website data is cleared. More detail, including choice-receipt retention and your rights, is in Privacy. Questions can be sent through Contact.
