The author of the mix is Chris Douglas, a skilled sound sculptor, musician and DJ who lives and works in Germany. He produces music under the O.S.T, Dalglish, Scald Rougish and four other pseudonyms in order to achieve a diverse expression in sound. There are three facts that clearly reflect Douglas’ authority in the intellectual dance music scene. Firstly, he has been practically glowing on the darker horizons of electronic music scene for over 20 years. Secondly, he has explored and participated in the development of genres like IDM, non-dancefloor techno, and dark ambient. Thirdly, he has releases on such notable labels as Highpoint Lowlife, iDEAL Recordings, Shitkatapult and others. More than anything, it’s his music itself that says the most about the boundless creativity of Chris Douglas under his various guises.

STM 041 is a mercurial musical selection that sets up a transdimensional, powerfully-encoded recording matrix for every thoughtful music researcher, collector, and passionate lover. This is a distant and extraordinary audio voyage that guides the listener through 78 unpublished multifarious works by Dalglish, all created between 2000 and 2012. The foundation of the recording is formed from the progressively-shifting trajectories of sustained sweeping atmospheres. These are enhanced using innovative musical devices, effects, and the calculated activity of sonic particles. The unstable background of the mix is full of unexpected, organically mutating sound formations. Constantly collapsing and renewing colossal rhythmical structures overlay the intense Cimmerian foundation of distorted melodies. Dalglish’s experimentation with motion and depth of tone is one of the priorities in the creation of overlapping ambiance and sparkling electromagnetic fields. By accumulating intuitively-unfolding glitchy musical patterns, the structure regenerates into a more and more complex mechanism.

STM 041 is like Gego’s Untitled abstract geometric drawing, where incorporated ideas of industry, science, and architecture expose a vision of the expanding shadowy sphere that strangely frightens the subconscious with immeasurable illusions.
