Polyester
Polyester crafts a coherently dynamic selection of carefully picked, electrified gems by German synth-wave pioneers, opening onto cold, dystopian urban romanticism.

Polyester (aka Vaidotas Ambrozaitis) is a DJ and promoter from Vilnius responsible for putting on live shows of such names as Umberto, Pictureplane, Jemek Jemovit, Das Ding etc as well as moving crowds with his electrified DJ sets ranging from post-punk to dark techno. He is the founder of the “Sha:Tri:Ah” promoting team and also a frequent guest at a diverse range of parties from minimal-wave/synth to techno/house events. He was also a repeat-participant in “Drop Dead Festival”, the legendary post-punk/coldwave party that took place in various different European capitals including Berlin and Vilnius. You can hear Polyester’s sets in various local open-air festivals.
His selection is a coherent sonic narrative made of forgotten German minimal/synth gems and NDW music. There is a perpetual stable pulse maintained throughout most of the mix. It kicks off with the sharp melodicism of Die Gesunden, followed later by a charming and elegant poppy tune by Silvia. The explosive nature of the MassenDefect track brings the dynamics back. Among the many interesting rarities there is also an anthemic piece called “Maskindans” by obscure Norwegian wavers Det Gylne Triangel. There are also some playful digressions provided by Mängelexemplar and their cold nursery rhyme in “Universal” or Millimetric and their subtly noir-like collaboration with Martin Dupont. Neonlichter im Ausverkauf injects some hazy and melancholic undertones into the mix while the Modern Art underground hit “Still Life” nicely concludes the selection together with Andi Arroganti and an intense lo-fi attack by Ewig & 3 Tage.

Polyester on the mix
I have always tried to surround myself with music I discovered on my own. This fact was the main reason for deep explorations in various 90’s synth music forms. Here, among diverse forgotten projects, I discovered many accidental gems which are included in my DJ sets. This mix is the result of such a process. The selection is built around the forgotten tracks of various German synth-wave pioneers. I tried to create an atmosphere of cold, dystopian, urban romanticism. The mix might serve as a nice soundtrack for a midnight walk across the foggy cities of S. Kubrick’s “Clockwork Orange” or J.G. Ballard’s “Crash”.
