Unsound Festival - the Ticking Bomb of Modern Sound in Historic Surroundings

As a media partner Secret Thirteen proudly presents Unsound Festival 2013, probably the leading contemporary electronic music festival in Europe taking place this autumn. This year festival theme is "Interference". It will be questioning interference as an element of contemporary music, social and cultural life, the meaning of interference in sound physics by analyzing today's “underground” and amorphous border between entertainment and challenging experience.

The festival will take place in Kraków, Poland during the week between the 13th and 20th of October. Spectacular city in the south of the country escaped much of the destruction during World War II. Its historic centre (Old town, Wawel Castle and jewish quarter of Kazimierz) was included as the first of its kind in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 1978. Festival venues such as Temple Synagogue, gothic St. Caterines Church, neo-baroque concert hall in Kraków Philharmonic, Narodowy Stary Teatr, Manggha Centre of Japanese Art and Technology, Hotel Forum from Soviet era, Engineering museum, night clubs and film theaters will guide visitors through different styles of architecture and play an important role in the atmosphere of the festival.

Unsound Festival surprises with new experiments with festival experience. According to the organizers, in order to strengthen senses and engagement photos and filming will be banned (both for smartphones and media), festival dramatically reduced performances with video backdrop, there will be no internet transmissions or big headliners. The line-up consists of more than 80 names. Our previously presented artists such as Tropic of Cancer, Demdike Stare, Aidan Baker and Erik Skodvin (Svarte Greiner) of B/B/S, Oren Ambarchi, Conor Thomas or Nate Young are just a few names in the schedule. Visitors will also have a chance to see performances by Charlemagne Palestine & Rhys Chatham, Earth, Mika Vainio, Pete Swanson, Porter Ricks, Julianna Barwick, Helena Hauff, Laurel Halo and many many more. It is important to mention that unlike some other festivals where several stages overlap each other at the same time, Unsound schedule allows the visitor to watch all the performances without missing one. The programme also contains discussions, installations and several screenings in English or with English subtitles.

Unsound Festival is the opportunity to coalesce with music in a unique temporary autonomous zone, it is the reason to go on holiday to Kraków and explore stunning architecture of the historic city and the chance to establish new relations with some die-hard music lovers.
